During the entire Environmental Remediation process, irrespective of the techniques applied, monitoring of the physical-chemical parameters of the soil, groundwater and surface water is necessary.
Environmental Monitoring is carried out by means of collecting samples of materials such as soil, waste, ambient air, groundwater and surface water, free phase products, sensitive material or bio-indicator of the site and remediation products. The objective of the results obtained is to indicate and quantify the presence of contaminants, attest the efficiency and performance of the remediation system implanted and the reduction or not of the persistent concentrations.
Once the remediation goals are attained (CMA – Maximum Acceptable Concentrations or SSTL – Site Specific Target Level), a representative monitoring cycle is necessary in order to ascertain with certainty that the site is remedied and the proceeding can be closed with the environmental agency.
